DESCRIPTION:What could be better than popping out of the backdoor and picking something for tea? This course is designed to give you the basics to start growing your own delicious salads and vegetables; the knowledge of what to plant where\, the confidence in your practical skills to have a go and the passion to really want to grow things to eat! \nWhat better setting to learn a new skill than Kirklands walled garden. Peter has been growing vegetables her for almost 50 years. We will talk about compost\, raised beds\, seed sowing\, planning your vegetable year as well as greenhouse basics. Strawberries\, fruit trees\, current bushes will all get a mention\, \nDepending on the time of year and the weather\, you will take away planted seeds in pots to get you started at home. Come with an idea of what you most want to eat\, that is possible in Scotland and we will help you understand the process from seed to cropping and the challenges and delights along the way.

DESCRIPTION:One of the wonders of nature that inspired me in my gardening life is how a seed grows into a tree; I discover this at 6 or 7 years old and the wonder has never left. Propagating plants has developed in an obsessive compulsive disorder that helps populate the garden. \nIn our plant propagation workshop we hope to stimulate a desire to multiply your stock of garden plants from seed\, cuttings and division. We will dig up things from around the garden\, depending on season\, and pot up for you to take home for your garden. \nThe workshops have a maximum of eight people so you can get practical experience not just a demonstration. \nThe course are 2 hours long 10-12 on a Saturday or 6.30 to 8.30 on Wednesday evenings. You are welcome to arrive early and look around or stay after to enjoy the garden. We are here to answer your questions on the day or anytime after by email or message.
